My name is Sean Grimes and I reside in Ofallon, Missouri. The sole purpose of my website is to point people in the right direction before getting involved with internet marketing.
I’m currently earning a decent online income, but it hasn’t always been that way for me. I started out like most people by getting involved with various Multi Level Marketing companies. It took me nearly 4 years to realize that you won’t earn big money in MLM unless you put in a lot of work. I’m now earning in one day what I would earn in 4 months in just about any given MLM program. Don’t get me wrong. MLM is a great place to get your feet wet, but it will not make you rich because your earnings rely very much on your downline remaining active members and if you have any experience with MLM, you already know that many people will quit as soon as they join.
Before you do anything, I highly recommend that you read about my history in with internet marketing. It may seem like a lot to read, but I am sure you'll find a lot of useful information in this article.
Back in 2005, I was sort of a computer geek. I didn’t know how to make web pages or anything, but I did know how to build computers and I also knew a lot about video editing. I spent a lot of time on my computer. It got to the point where it irritated the crap out of my wife. Little did she know that I was becoming a computer/internet/network marketing junkie.
Anyway, I figured that I had a lot of knowledge about computers so I decided, “Why not use my knowledge to make money online?” I began searching for ways to make money on Google(this is what most people do and experienced marketers know this) and I came across a program called Money Cube. I don’t remember too much about it, but I know I spent $99 to try it out. I had a link to promote it, but I didn’t have a clue what to do with it. This probably was a good program, but I wrote it off as a scam since I didn’t make any money with it. I failed here, so I went back to Google again.
This time, I was led to Ebay. I started off selling items I had laying around the house. It was a good way to get rid of stuff I no longer wanted. I was able to sell almost anything in my house really fast. I then began to think, “What if I could buy stuff at wholesale price and sell it on Ebay?” Well, I learned that if you want to sell any items worth your while, you have to go through a legitimate wholesaler, not a middle man and this can be really expensive because you have to buy in bulk. I then learned that there were wholesalers that would actually let you sell their products for them and they would ship them off for you. These guys are called dropshippers. To make a long story short, I tried a few dropshipping solutions, but the competition on Ebay was simply too fierce for me to compete. I had a good experience with Ebay cleaning out my house, but never made any real money with them. I failed here, so I went back to Google again.
I then found a system called the Free Store Club. This was a dropshipping system that not only let you sell their products while they shipped them out for you, but they also had a membership program where you could earn commissions if you got other people to join. They had 3 levels to join at. The free level, the silver level $10 a month(lower wholesale cost on products) and the Gold level $50 a month(even lower prices on wholesale items). I actually became a Gold member after trying the system out. They had some crappy products, but they had some really cheap knives that looked really nice. I purchased about 12 of them for $48 with shipping included. I sold most of the knives for $20-$30 a piece. This actually wasn’t bad at all. I had plans of buying these knives and setting up shop at flea markets on the weekends, but I really didn’t want to sell knives that bad so I went to back to Google.
I ended up finding a system called Referralware. This was basically a downline builder system that I now consider to be a rip off. Not a scam, but a rip off. You pay to join the system(read on to learn my own system that I give away to my members). You then pay to join 3 income opportunities plus any program offered by your sponsor. At the time, the opportunities were Free Store Club, $1.67 a day/Juvio, Health First Technologies and a travel program I can’t remember the name of. You then purchased leads packages. The concept was neat, but I would spend about $600 a month and I had to work like crazy. As the leads came in, the system owners wanted you to pick up the phone and call your leads back. All of them! This was a real headache because I found many of the leads to be bogus. I was able to get 3 people to join this program though, but by that time, I was fed up with it. People would join and dropout without giving the system a real chance, but it was simply too overwhelming for the average person. I also must add that the times I spent promoting Referralware was probably the most miserable time of my life. I dreaded making those phone calls to my leads. Anyway, I ended up back on Google again.
I couldn’t find anything, but a friend of mine told me about a program called 12dailypro. I joined knowing nothing about it since he claimed to be making money. 12dailypro was one of those programs where you earned money to look at other peoples websites, but you also had to put money into the system to showcase your own website as well. I must admit that I did earn a little money, but as soon as I started earning money, the attorney general began investing the system. I was able to get my money out before this happened, but people lost $1000’s in this program. My friend ended up losing right around $1000. I didn’t lose anything here, but I didn’t gain much either so I went back to Google again.
In the process of promoting Referralware, I was introduced to reverse marketing. This is when you promote something to a person, but they turn around and promote something back to you. A guy actually joined Referralware under me because they had a 30 day money back guarantee. We got to know each other pretty good. He then started showing me a bunch of income opportunities. I wasn’t sold on any of them until he showed me one called GDI, Global Domains International. I immediately joined because it was free for the first 7 days then it was only $10 a month. I liked GDI because I knew nothing about websites, but always wanted one. Finally, I found an income opportunity that had a product that I could use. When I joined GDI, I didn’t bother trying to promote it at first because I was sold on the product. I did end up recruiting a few people. I even paid my mothers way into GDI. After getting a few people under her, I stopped promoting it. She gets a check from GDI each and every money and she doesn’t even know anything about the system. I left my first downline behind in GDI. I opened a new account and started over. I actually goofed. I tried to open up 2 accounts, but GDI does not allow members to have 2 accounts in the same name. I rejoined GDI and I now promote it through my very own marketing system.
Right around this time, I was introduced to a system called Payitforward4profits. This is when things started to change for me. I actually began to learn what marketing was all about. Paul Birdsall was the founder of this system along with Joel Broughton. This system was a donwline builder, but they actually took you by the hand and showed you exactly how to market online. They let you copy the exact system they used to earn money with. They showed you how to set up your auto responder and how to edit your messages in them. They also had a success guide that showed you how to grow your business. I actually started to earn close to $500 a month with this system. Things were going good for me, but I soon began to learn the problem with internet marketing and network marketing. Most people are just too lazy. Yep! Lazzzzzyy! I was very confused when I joined the system, but I was willing to learn from my sponsor and the system. Some of the people that I recruited failed to communicate and they also failed to do what me and my upline were doing. I earned about $500 a month, but as fast as I could recruit people, people would drop out. My only method of advertising was traffic exchanges at the time. I sort of put the system on the back burner for a while because I had to do some thinking. “Should I quit trying to market online, or should I continue?” I decided to tough it out even though my wife wasn’t pleased with what I was doing.
Right around this time, I got an email from one of my downline members in GDI. She told me about a system called Worldprofit. I kept blowing the system off. About 2 months later, I got an email from her. I clicked the link and it took me to a website with people on it. I was like, “What is this?” Worldprofit was actually the perfect business opportunity. They sold all kinds of web seminar software and also did custom web design. They were a very professional business. In Worldprofit, you become a dealer. You purchase a domain name and they set your website up. They then train you to get you up to speed. In all honesty, they had the perfect system which would allow any serious person to make money.Their system is very unique in that they put a piece of software on every dealers website. It’s called the live business center. The live business center is special in that all you have to do is send traffic to your site and Worldprofits monitors will do the rest. Monitors are dealers who appear in the live business by using their web cams. Their job is to close sales for people. They do this by greeting visitors as they come to your site and they did a great job at closing sales for everyone who sent traffic to their websites. This was perfect for me. As soon as I saw the system, I joined right away and got to work. I was recruiting very good. I actually had a few months where I was almost the top dealer. I was profiting over $1000 a month with this system and also sold some custom web packages. Finally, my wife began to approve of what I was doing, but as soon as things got good, I let the system fade away. You may wonder why I left. I left because I could not deal with the CEO of the company, Jeffrey Lant. He was a no nonsense guy and had a very snotty attitude with many people. He was harsh on everyone. I must admit that he did help put money in my pocket, but it seemed like we argued all of the time. He actually tried to dog me out on the phone once, but I had to tell him, “Look, you may be the CEO if this company, but you’re not going to talk to me anyway you want to on this phone. If you show me respect, I’ll show you respect. You may be putting money in my pocket, but I’m putting money in your pocket as well.” I wasn’t the only one who had bad experiences with this guy. I loved the system, but I refused to help grow a business where I was not treated with respect. I just stopped promoting it while I continued to earn money from it. I just let it fade away.
During my time with Worldprofit, I was learning how to use auto-responders and was also dabbling in creating my own web pages. I think that was time I made the transition from a newbie marketer to an intermediate marketer. Also during this time, I was introduced to a $7 program that really turned things around for me. It was called The Insider Blueprint also known as Who Is Joe Schmoe.com. Not meaning to brag, but I kicked butt in this program! I created a lead capture page(something you should always do) linking it to my auto responder which directed prospects to my sales page after they filled out the form on it. I would place ads and then just watch the money come in. I was earning anywhere from $100-$600 a day with this program. The program worked so good because it gave everyone “resellers rights” to sell the program over and over again for a one time $7 fee. These $7 payments were what you call a self funded proposal. What they did was make sure I earned back money spent on advertising. After joining the Insider Blueprint, they introduced everyone to a “pay it forward” system that would allow them to earn multiple $50 payments over and over again. I took advantage of this. It wasn’t uncommon to come home and see that I had 5-12 $50 payments come in. Needless to say, things were going really well for me. I was earning about $3500 a month. That’s after you figure in the money I spent on advertising money spent on advertising.
Right when I though things were good, I let my ego get the best of me. I ended up trying out a high dollar program called The Jaguar Marketing System. I was introduced to this system by a reverse marketer(these guys can be annoying). This system cost A LOT of money to join. What attracted me to this system is that I could earn $3000 on each sale I made. I tried and tried, but I never made a penny with this system. It took a while, but I soon realize why I did poorly with this program. You see, as the cost of a program goes up, you have to change the way your market and marketing high dollar programs are very hard to promote because they are in VERY low demand since the average person doesn’t have the money to join them. Sure I got a lot of interested people, but no one wanted to invest that kind of money into a system like this. I pretty much gave up on that system.
I then tried a system called The Perfect Wealth Formula. It was another high dollar system, but it was very reasonable compared to the Jaguar Marketing System. Just like Jaguar Marketing, I never made a sale with the Perfect Wealth Formula. I had many people who were interested, but no one would join.
I then got hooked up with a system called Giblink. Now here is a program that came at the right time. All of my success with the Insider Blueprint was short lived because they used Paypal to accept payments and their program was not approved with Paypal. Paypal ended up locking my account. I don’t know how I did it, but I managed to pull out all of money except for 1 cent before they locked it out(no joke). Anyway, Giblink is a social networking program with an income opportunity and it did come at the right time. They also sell web hosting and domains. They have a really neat revenue sharing program where people can earn money without having to sponsor anyone. I began to sponsor people like crazy into this system. What method did I use? As always, a lead capture page linked to my auto responder. This is a program that I continue to earn with to this day even though I haven’t sponsored a person in a year.
I’ve joined other program too which were not mentioned here. Success University, Trivita, Acai Plus, World Travel Ventures, Travelencia, Global Resorts, Shaklee, Trivita, NPN, Lawnchairmillionaire and many, many more. What I’ve learned is that if your going to make money online, you must stay focused and you can’t join every new system that comes out. You must have a plan and can’t get distracted. You also can’t let some reverse marketer steer you away form what your are trying to accomplish. Whenever you join a program that was reverse marketers to you, you are sending the reverse marketer a very bad message. You are basically telling him/her that if things ever don’t go your way, you can be reverse marketed to again. Thins contradiction makes wonder why reverse marketing is even taught and practiced in MLM. I made money with most of the program listed above, but like I mentioned earlier, I could never teach people how to do what I was doing. I had to come up with something that allowed the average guy to copy the exact system I was using at no cost and it also had to be an easy process. I looked and looked, but couldn’t find anything. Right around that time, one of my close marketing buddies told me about a downline builder system that I could set up and would allow my people to duplicate what I was doing. It was James Grandstaff’s Downline Secrets 2 software. This is exactly what I was looking for! I could now create a system that worked for me and give it away so that my team could duplicate what I was doing. I no longer had to teach people how to set up auto responders. I no longer had to show people how to create basic lead capture page. All I had to do was show my system to people and all they had to do was join.
Once I got Jame’s software setup James Grandstaff’s Downline Secrets 2, I used it to make my very own 2DP Marketing System. Now, had I to choose which program I wanted promote with this system. I figured that I had to promote an income opportunity that I had been in for a long time and it also had to be a program that I was not just in because of the money I earned from it. I decided it would be between GDI, Gibline or GlobalNPN. I decided not to promote Gibline with my system because it cost a little too much for the average marketer at $150 every 3 months. I also decided not to put NPN on the front of my system because it used too be difficult for people to join since they don’t use their own payment processor. I decided to promote GDI with my system because it’s been around since 1999, their fee is only $10 a month and they offer an easy to understand product that is needed by anyone trying to earn money online. The twist I added to my system is that I would advertise for my entire downline. This may seem a bit strange for many people, but I knew how hard it was when I got started in networking marketing. I had no help and had to learn everything on my own. I wanted to come up with a way for people to make back some of the money they lost. Most people who join these programs don’t have a clue about advertising, or where to place ads even if you showed them exactly where to go and what ads to place. I also knew that advertising for my downline was just like advertising for myself. Whenever I get someone to join GDI under one of the people I advertise for, I earn a commission as well. I figured, “Why be stingy and just put people on my first level when I can advertise for the team and spread people out evenly?” I decided to go this route and I must say that it worked really well, but it attracted MANY lazy people.
After advertising for people, I got REALLY burned out on the whole MLM thing. I actually was ready to throw in the towel, but I decided to give my marketing system away to people who really wanted to use it as a teaching tool.
After being stuck on MLM for years, I knew I had to do something else. I had to find a way to earn at least $100 on a day to day basis. In June of 2009, I learned that I would be getting laid off from my job of 12 years. I decide to not go out like a wimp, so I teamed up with an old marketing buddy who showed me a way to earn the type of money that will pay the bills. I loved the system because finally, I found one system that had it all. It offers a way for you to earn 100% commissions. You don’t need to build fancy lead capture pages with the system. The system also has a really neat way for you to build your list and follow up with them on a day to day basis. I no longer have to wait to get paid small commissions at the end of the month. I get instant cash payments and they come in everyday now it seems. The best thing about this system is that all you ever have to pay is $10 a month. You do have to make at least 1 one time purchases of your choice, but you can earn a lot of money. No, I’m not talking about GDI or GlobalNPN. I’m talking about EZ Wealth Solution. I had been sleeping on this program for almost 2 years. I’m now earning anywhere from $100-$400 daily.
As you can see, it has been a long road for me, but I’m still here. Before you give up on yourself, just remember everything I’ve been through. I didn’t get to where I’m at in one day. It took a lot of effort on my part. Once you decide that you’re not going to give up and toughen up, you’ll see a big change in whatever you set your mind to in life.
I hope this has been insightful and most importantly, BEWARE OF REVERSE MARKETERS!
Take care.
